Work It Out... The Office Language

The Office Language
Talking business is a special art form, David Brent was great at it, office language can empower and strengthen your arguments and points. Terminology that was conceived by motivational gurus, implemented by bosses and football managers and then sobered by political correctness, the office lingo is a 'must know' for any keen employee looking to move up the office ladder. Here's Base London's guide to...the Office Language.
Mind Shower (née Brain Storming)
Due to political correctness gone mad, brain
storming is no longer acceptable, possibly after someone's brain suffered adverse weather conditions during a heated debate. However gather the team together for a good old fashioned 'mind shower' in order to get a good result for a project and can also help to empower members and make them part of the team.
Thinking Outside the Box
Not actually sure when there was a box that everyone thought in. To think outside the box is to go beyond usual parameters and be a little bit more creative.
Let's Throw it against a wall and see what Sticks
Throw what at a wall? If you throw spaghetti at a wall and it sticks it means it's ready, we suppose that must also apply to ideas. If you try out an idea and it works then it's ready, that's what it means.
At the end of the day
The football managers' favourite...at the end of the day. A classic in business talk, it means when everything is finished and complete.
The Hand Shake
Ok, not technically a saying, however the hand shake possibly more important in business than your clever use of lingo in order to clinch a deal or show you mean business. In order to perform the perfect handshake simply...
-Extend your arm forward with hand outstretched and thumb point up.
-Slice your hand into the opposing hand.
-When the thumb webs meet close your firmly, but not too firmly.
-Give two firm pumps.
