Wear It Well... Watches

A decent timepiece is an important part of any gentleman's wardrobe. Not only is it the discerning gentleman's accessory and a decent wrist clock can show a man's wealth, but it's also pretty handy to tell the time too. However it's important to be wise when choosing your watch, this lil' fella's gonna cost a bit, but at the end of the day he'll be your companion for a while, if not a lifetime, so here's Base London's guide to wearing it well the watch.

Which Type?

Analog - Have the classic minute and hour hands and is the more formal option.
Digital - The time is displayed numerically on a LCD or LED face, the casual option.
Analog/Digital - A mixture of both.

What To Consider When Choosing A Watch.

Does It suit you?

Your watch needs to reflect you and your personality, it's a statement of you and your style.

Does iIt Stand Out?

One of the first things that people notice is your timepiece, and it may stand as your first impression to someone and be the image you are projecting. If it's attitude clashes with yours it will be noticeable.

Does It Show?

You should never wear the watch low enough on your wrist as if to show it off. A glimpse should be enough.

Did You Choose It?

Make sure it's a style you like, not one that is suggested to you.

Is It Cheap?

A cheap watch will generally look cheap, buy the best quality you can afford.

Does It Suit Your Lifestyle?

Make sure the theme of the watch matches your lifestyle, if you work in manual labour then a dress watch will look out of place.

Where Was It Made?

The Swiss are still generally the best at watch making.

How To Wear.

Digital watches are obviously far more suited to casual or sports clothes, than formal suits.

A silver watch suits darker tones such as black, greys, and blues, whilst gold watches tend to suit more earthy tones such as brown and tans.
