Wear It well... The First Date

Seeing as February is a romantic month, we've decided to treat you to the guide to dressing perfectly for that first date. You're first appearance on your date with your potential future partner is vital, you don't want to look like a slob at a fancy restaurant or a plonker at a picnic. To help you get a grip on what to wear, we've come up with a few suggestions to impress in a variety of situations. Leave it to us, we'll sort you out and hopefully it will all end well and you never know your chosen clobber might end up dressing the bedroom floor.

Dinner Date

The classic dating situation, treat them to a nice meal at a fancy restaurant. It's usually the case that in order to impress it would probably be a bit classier than your usual joint so you'll have to dress accordingly.

You don't want to over dress, it may make her feel
inferior, so team a smart pair of trousers, with a classy well fitted shirt and finish off with a great pair of Base London loafers. A suit would probably be too smart for the first date, save those threads for a later date.

Cinema

A great date destination for someone you're unsure of is a cinema, you can't talk but you have a couple of hours after meeting up to decide your next move. This is obviously a far more casual place, if you are generally a sharp dresser then tone it down slightly, but if casual is your trend of choice then spruce it up only slightly.

Don't forget you are setting the standard for future meetings with this girl so your style here should reflect your general style. Wear a smart pair of jeans, combined with a fashionable tee and complete the look with a cool Base London hybrid shoe which is a little more casual or a fashion trainer.

Trendy Bar

The great thing about going for a date in a trendy bar or club is that you can have a few drinks, generally un-wind and just have a bit more fun. You probably have your regular clubbing outfit but smarten it up a little bit.

For a trendy nightspot, team a high quality pair of straight leg jeans with a cool collared shirt. Top it off with a cool tailored blazer that's a bit more casual than your usual suit jacket, and finish off with a sharp pair of Base London lace ups.

Picnic

Either the weather's nice or she likes to be at one with nature and would probably hug the trees as hard as she would you. A picnic date is one that should be treated casually yet not too casual.

Don't wear shorts and a vest, instead put on a lightweight trouser and a light cotton shirt, rolling the sleeves up to make it more casual, finishing off with a cool Base London sandal. An altogether relaxed yet cool look.

So there you go, dress for success, bear the above in mind, however you should always be comfortable in your appearance, if you are uneasy it will show. Now go get her tiger!
