Wear It Well ... Hair Styles
Some are blessed with it in abundance, some not so, but whatever hair type you've been born with we're not going to tell you what style you should ask for, that's your choice, it is a reflection of your personality. Here's some basic tips from Base London on what to do with your hair...
Products
Always ask your hairdresser advice on what product would best suit your hair and how you can replicate the look at home. Whatever the finish you're after, your hairdresser will know the best product for you.
Long Hair
Reducing - If your hair is naturally thick it may bouffant, ask your hairdresser to cut some body out, if this still doesn't help, use a dense conditioner which will add weight and reduce volume.
Texturizing - Texturizing the hair removes any excess bulk and reveals a great cut. Rub in your selected product from the root, raking your finger to the tip, pulling the hair in any preferred direction.
Growing out - Keep up regular visits to the hairdressers, around every 6 weeks if you are growing out your hair. This will keep it in good condition and tidy, as well as tame.
Short Hair
Short and Messy - Towel dry your hair after a shower, forget the comb and just work styling wax into your hair, creating a messy yet controlled look
Bed Head - Shower and apply product before going to bed, this will give an authentic bed head finish. The more wild parts in the morning can be tamed with water and product.
The Smart Look - Apply mousse to your hair whilst dry, make a parting and neatly comb it back. This gives a very well groomed look.
Keeping it Healthy
Washing - Wash your hair daily with good quality products. Use separate shampoo and conditioners that relate to your hair type. Make sure you use a product that can combat any hair issue you may have.
Drying - Towel drying can weaken the hair so rub it gently.
Oily Hair - Can look unattractive so use a deep cleansing shampoo and apply product to dry hair.
Dry or frizzy hair - Can be combated with a moisturising conditioner or protein rich supplement. When applying product, make sure the hair is damp
Balanced diet can also help your hair.
Losing It
Accept it, don't fight it. comb-overs, syrups and toupés are a serious no no. There are regenerative products on the market but you have to be in it for the long haul. You could have a transplant, but remember Russ Abbott. Learn to live with it slap head and always use the line that it's a sign of virility.
