Even in the heat of the Sahara, desert boots are impeccably cool. The renewed vogue for this staple shoe couldn't have come at a better time, desert boots celebrate their 65th year as a footwear phenomenon in 2015. To celebrate the launch of our summer boot collection, and the desert boot's 65th birthday, we've put together some essential desert boot dos and don'ts to make sure you wear them well....
DO wear with shorts
The idea of teaming shorts with boots is enough to scare any bloke who isn't a topless builder in the month of July. Desert boots make the look a whole lot more palatable. Unlike typically chunky winter boots, desert boots have a much slimmer sole, a softer suede texture and a lower profile, reaching just a few centimetres up the ankle. That makes the boot-and-shorts combo much easier on the eye, ideal for warmer days when you've got some miles to cover.

DON'T be afraid of colour
Desert boots may traditionally come in beige and tan shades, but they work seriously well in colour. The laid back style of the boot means it works as well with shorts as it does with jeans and even chinos, taking you from chilled out, all the way up to smart casual. It's versatility means that it can handle a colour pop admirably. If you're climbing aboard the white trouser bandwagon this SS/15, you'll find a brighter or contrasting desert boot looks especially good.
DO dare to bare
Whatever your trouser of choice, consider a rolled up leg and a bit of ankle to complement your desert boot. The casual look of desert bootage is a great match for a relaxed rolled ankle, ideal for dapper summer sauntering, if you like that kind of thing.
Part of the beauty of the desert boot is its simplicity. Understated in shape and style, this boot works with virtually any outfit. To wear these boots the right way, however, best practice is to keep your look simple. Clean lines, nothing over the top, just crisp, classic, casual style – topped off with the perfect laid back boot.
