Base London SS13 Collection
Base London inject elements of confidence, charisma and charm into a design led range of summer perfect styles for SS13. Lightweight uppers and seasonally inspired colourways breathe fresh life into signature silhouettes as well as introducing modern takes on classic British footwear looks.
The Base London S/S13 casual collection mixes brightly coloured uppers on low profile sole units. A selection of driver styles and deck shoes incorporate eye catching design details, including tassels and kiltie tongues, providing a touch of continental flair. Also present is a range of casual summer ready boots; exposed leathers and comfortable cuffs are all on view as Base London widens the seasonal casual offering.
A neatly produced semi-formal collection reveals traditional British formal uppers, again subjected to seasonal tonal finishes and affixed to casual, lightweight rubber sole units. A selection of hybrid brogues and derby interpretations complete a perfectly formed range sitting alongside a selection of styles inspired from the British Indie music scene.
The formal collection refreshes classic, yet very much on trend silhouettes by applying typical Base London touches to bring them into the modern. Traditional British brogues and loafers receive the renowned design details and leather treatments that make them undeniably Base London.

About Our Materials
Base London form their shoes around comfort and durability. This ensures they can be worn every day and will be long lasting, but won’t cause discomfort. The durability of an upper is mainly down to the material used and the finish applied to it.
Here are some of the finishes used to the leathers:
-
Waxy – Matt finish, slightly grained leather with a waxy feel
-
Suede – Created by carefully controlled abrasion of the original surface to create a velvety finish
-
Tumble – The leather is tumbled longer for a softer finish and accentuated grain
-
Nubuck – Similar finish to suede, but the leather is sanded on the inside part of the leather rather than suede which is sanded on the outside. This creates a finer velvety finish
-
Burnished Suede – Created by rubbing wax or dye in to the material to produce a ‘bruising’ effect. This can be applied to other leathers creating a burnished look
-
Crazy – Similar to suede but with a finer, smoother finish. This leather is mixed with oil to give a unique feel and appearance
-
Antique – A darker wax coating is applied evenly to the finished shoe, then rubbed off to reveal areas of the original colour and highlight parts of the upper
