For some, Valentines Day can be a very lonely affair, having spent a fortune on cards and gifts only to be left claiming that the post office obviously lost the ones sent to you. February 14th can spiral into a popularity contest, however for the lucky few this is the one opportunity to get it right, here's how...

Say it with flowers?

Although many wouldn't deny that most girls appreciate flowers and chocolates, the key is to think original and the more 'personal' gifts count. Luckily for those needing a little helping hand there is always a little electronic inspiration.

Ok, so the gifts have got you a foot in the door, now is the time to fuel the fire.Valentines day is the busiest in any restaurant's calendar, be organised and book atable early to avoid disappointment - because a Mcdonald's Drive-Thru rarely impresses.

Top Tip

Be prepared - Chill some good quality champagne in the fridge before you go out. If the night goes to plan there's that little 'deal clincher' waiting for you when you get home or if the evening ends in tears, you'll appreciate its company.

Dress Sharp - This is the time to make an effort. Team a sharp suit with a cool Base London brogue. Although the day might burn a hole in the sky rocket, dress like it's never been an issue.
