Get It Right... Fireworks Night.

Ooooooooooooooh,Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, ooooooooooooooooooooooooh! No it's not the sounds you'd expect to hear coming from a politician's bedroom but the stunned and amazed tones of your friends, as they stand and admire your own fireworks display. Packed with enough semtex that you won't need the computer assistance used by the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, here's Base London's guide to holding your own...Fireworks night.

Your Display

How do they know that rocket will explode like that, resulting in those pretty patterns? Always the crowning glory of any successful bonfire night and the most eagerly anticipated, the fireworks must be good. Ensure that you mix variety with timing and buy good quality bangers.

Guy

If you have room for a ceremonial effigy burning, then we suggest that you take full pride in your Guy's outfit and he looks as cool as you. We don't suggest that you ignite your latest clobber but dress the poor bastard to impress on his first and last
public appearance,

Food & Drink

You should never mix being intoxicated with lighting potentially lethal rockets. So tonight you're going to have to keep off the drink until after the display. However it's a good idea to make sure your guests are all well catered for. Why not dust down your BBQ for a winter appearance, slap on some burgers and bangers and make sure the crowd are well fed before cricking their necks at your display.

Safety

It would be totally irresponsible of us to leave this without a word of warning. It's all fun and games hosting a fireworks display but...

- Never operate fireworks whilst intoxicated.
- Always wear gloves when lighting fireworks or holding sparklers.
- Make sure there is a safe distance between the crowd and the launch area.
- Never light fireworks in the direction of the crowd.
- Ensure young children are properly supervised.
- Never return to a firework that doesn't appear
to have worked.
