In general, casual styles are everyday shoes that you can wear with your jeans or combats. As the name suggests, they are designed to be worn for a night in the pub or a big game, although they have enough style and presence to make a statement in more formal surroundings.

At the smarter end of the range sit the formal styles which are designed to be worn at the office or your best mate's wedding. They have a more discreet branding but are definitively Base London. These are the shoes which created the branded formal footwear market, combining style and credibility perfectly.

Trends dictate that you still need to be able to wear formal shoes with your jeans and so mixing casual uppers with more formal lasts is becoming increasingly popular. Hybrid styles using sports shapes with fashion materials also create a sub-category of their own - Sports Casual.
