Comfort and Strength

We know that you demand footwear that combines function and fashionability, so whilst the upper has to blend style with good looks, the sole of the shoe is concerned with the harsh realities of life.

Soles are under constant pressure so the first requirement is strength. Materials used include natural rubber for the more casual styles and leather for some of the formal styles. A substance called tunit is also used on many of our formal shoes. Aside from the flexibility this provides in terms of available textures and finishes it is also much harder wearing than leather and so can last longer. Soles are moulded and treated to give maximum comfort and durability as well as their aesthetic values such as transparency and texture.

Throughout, the aim is to achieve a balance between the need for strength and staying power and the desire for lightness and comfort whilst maintaining the Base London signature.

The sole is an essential part of the Base London character and many styles now feature pictures and graphics. Base London soles work hard and play hard but they do it in style.

Attention to details such as textured leathers, high quality finishes, prints and exclusive sole designs, sets Base London apart from its competitors, ensuring the brand remains unique in the market.
