5 Sportswear Brands You Should Know About

Do you have the urge to get back into shape and back on the fitness wagon after the gluttony, debauchery and sheer laziness of Christmas? “All the gear, no idea” is a tried and tested truism – but sometimes investing in the right gear which makes you feel good can help you get even more motivated. To help you get your kit on for a fresh year and a fresh start to your exercise regime, we thought we'd share a few of our very favourite lesser-known men's sportswear brands. Get it on and get going...

1. 2XU 1An Australian brand launched in 2005, 2XU (Two Times You) has gone from strength to strength – literally – gracing the bodies of elite athletes and sports teams the world over. Their kit isn't just incredibly intelligent and designed for ultimate performance, it's also dynamic looking, chic and engineered for active bodies.

2. Athletic Propulsion Labs

2High end sportswear made from top quality materials and designed to perform as beautifully as it looks. This US brand, founded by twin ex-college athletes,  this is sportswear to get excited about wearing – the quality of the materials feels ridiculously good.

3. Soar Running

3Soar know running, and they know style. With a wide range of spot on sportswear in a range of bold but not obnoxious shades – with a pleasingly graphic feel – this is a brand any runner will fall in love with, home to en pointe, practical sportswear for everything from keeping the rain off, to keeping those legs moving.

4. Arc'Teryx

4With a focus on winter sports, Arc'Teryx is a Canadian brand who know more than a thing or two about high performance outerwear which seriously commits to design, craftsmanship and performance. If you're planning to get out there this January, their cold weather garb is second to none – but there are also plenty of good looking basics for general workouts to be found in their online store too.

5. Iffley Road5A sportwear brand with a difference. Husband and wife running aficionados weren't keen on skin-tight fluorescent Lycra, but hated the impracticality of shapeless, baggy gear not made for the purpose. So they designed their own ideal running wear. Technically outstanding, but without the aggressive acid-pop Lycra look, this is old-school sportswear designed with modern features for chicer, smarter sports.
