5 LC:M AW16 Looks to Pay Attention To

London Collections: Men AW16 kicked of 2016 in predictably cool style this month, bringing the biggest names in menswear to capital's catwalks. Showcasing inspiring attire for the year ahead, with a strong focus on AW16's essential outerwear, LC:M AW16 was all about shape, putting styling on the back burner in favour of immaculate cuts, oversized silhouettes and strong, statement forms.

If you're a dedicated follower of fashion, but don't have time to peruse every show in minute detail for your style inspiration this season, we've distilled LC:M AW16's looks into five key styles which you should be paying attention to in the months ahead...

Utility1Utility inspired styles have been a strong trend through recent season's and AW16 is no exception to this rule. From biker jackets and great coats, to aviator jackets, AW16's outerwear abounds in garments which focus on rugged functionality. With a distinctly masculine edge, the utility trend is distinctly practical with a strong leaning towards quality, heavy duty fabrics designed to get rough and ready.

Baggy Trousers2After a decade of skinny jeans, men's trousers have been getting roomier for a number of season's now. LC:M AW16's catwalks were packed with looser styles, with lower crotches and much wider legs in a plethora of colours, styles and fabrics.

Oversize Everything3It's not just trousers which are getting baggier, across the board oversized menswear dominates, from outerwear to basics. With its roots in recent seasons' return to the 90s, longer tees, baggier jeans, even beanies are getting the oversize treatment.

Grunge4Greasy, Kurt Cobain-esque hair, frayed jumpers, distressed knitwear, previous seasons' grungy feel is still prevalent for AW16. Just cast your mind back to the 90s to draw inspiration for your casual looks in 2016.

Bohemia5Away from AW16's dominant 90s grunge aesthetic, a more decadent, Bohemian trend emerged at LC:M. From silk dressing gowns and velvet jumpers, to decadent brocade in a rich colour palette, a certain indulgent, confident “feminine” masculinity was present on the catwalks. Just think louche aristocratic Victorian bachelor in an opium den.
