Wear It well... Ties
Windsor Knot

Half Windsor Knot

Four-in-Hand Knot

At school we all wore our ties as short as we could, and the chunky knot is synonymous with a court bound footballer. Little did we know how much a part of our lives the tie would become. Not just a symbol of a club or importance, the tie is an essential part of a man's wardrobe, and there are many different things you need to know. Here's Base London's guide to how to wear it well...the tie.
Tie Basics
- To leave a dimple in the middle of the tie, simply pinch an indent using your thumb and index finger whilst tightening.
- The tie should hang low enough so it touches the waistband of your trousers.
- The Knot should sit perfectly so that no shirt can be seen above it.
- Steer clear of the tie pin.
Windsor Knot
The largest of the tie knots, the symetrical knot 'V' mirrors that of a button jacket. Ideal for a spread collar.
The Half Windsor
A slimmer knot which suits a narrower collar, wear it tight and high.
Four-in-hand Knot
The classic tie formation, the elongated funnel suits a smaller or cutaway collar
