Top 3...Pub Magic
You may not be a natural Paul Daniels, but if chat up lines aren't your thing then bar room magic tricks can be an easy way to get the ladies' attention, not to mention win some cash or free drinks from your mates. Here's Base London's top 3... Bar Room Magic Tricks
Trick 1...Shot glass Sorcery
You'll need a shot of whiskey and a shot of water for this one. Bet that you can get the liquids to switch glasses without using any other glasses or your mouth. Once the bet is accepted, pop a beer mat on top of the water shotglass and, holding the mat tight to the top of the glass, flip it over and place on top of the whiskey shot. Carefully pull back the card to allow a slight gap and the liquids will slowly swap...aaaaah
Trick 2...Jumping Ash
You'll need to be outside for this one due to the smoking ban. Firstly before you introduce the trick lightly dampen your fingertip and dip it in a used ashtray to lightly cover the tip in ash. Light or borrow a cigarette and tell an unsuspecting victim that you can make ash travel from your hand to theirs by...magic!. Ask your victim to hold their hands out, palm down, then as a distraction, say 'no just this one' as you hold their hand and daub the ash from the tip of your finger onto their palm (which is faced down) tell them to make their hand into a fist. Flick some ash into your hand and slowly rub it in holding your palm above their fist. The ash will slowly disappear and then ask them to open their hand....wow...magic!
Trick 3...Pop the cork
Push a cork through the neck of an empty wine bottle and tell the onlooking crowd that you will get the cork out without smashing the bottle or using any specialist equipment. Preferably go into another room, toilet or similar where you can't be overlooked. You need to have previously secreted a cloth handherchief or napkin in your pocket. Once outof site, twirl the cloth into a
long twist and poke it down the neck of the bottle - keeping hold of one end. Once a decent amount of fabric is inside the bottle flip the cork into one of the folds of the cloth. Then simply pull the cloth firmly and slowly back out of the bottle. Et voila...one freed cork!
